Jeb Bush isn't just going to be a guest on Stephen Colbert's late-night debut on CBS. He's turned it into a fundraising opportunity.
Bush has sent a letter to potential supporters, offering a "VIP ticket" to the taping of Colbert's first show on Sept. 8, in a renovated Ed Sullivan Theatre in Manhattan. The winner also gets an all-expenses paid trip to New York for the event. Bush asks for a $3 donation to enter.
"Running for president can be a taxing and grueling job, but it also presents you with some truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunities," Bush wrote. "Friend, I want to share one of those opportunities with you."
His debut as David Letterman's replacement is highly anticipated, and Bush will be joined by George Clooney as an opening night guest.
A Bush campaign spokeswoman didn't immediately return a request for comment. It's not clear how many people received the solicitation or how many people have entered.

Well, maybe THAT will win Bush the Third the Party nomination. One never knows for certain.

Not by me.
It would work if he were running as a Democrat...
LOL. I just posted the other day that I didn't think my opinion of Jeb could go lower but every time he opens his mouth it does.
Be interesting to know how Colbert got Jeb. If he wanted ratings for his new show, he would have got Trump. Again shows how scared the left is of Trump.
I know. I watched him be a fine guv of Florida—it’s almost as if he has early dementia. He crouches and cringes and frankly has a baffled and unhappy expression all the time.
Interesting you say that; he was actually a quite good governor as most people who lived in the state told me. His presidential quest has seemed nothing short of bizarre - trashing the base of the party and the vast majority of primary voters; playing up illegal immigration; cozying up to celebrities who detest the Party and all it stands for; being totally unprepared for questions on Iraq, etc. Very odd.
First thought—sedatives? Meds for depression and anxiety?
All other viable candidates should have a mock Bush field day with this event, I’m sure Trump will be all over it.
With Jeb it is just all to easy, he is a walking, talking circus clown side show, apparently all his GOPe corporate funding is drying up, one hundred million is lot to give to see Jebbie the Clown fall on his face over and over again.
Colbert is a left wing idiot posing as a right wing “Bill O’Reilly” type of person, while making fun of conservatives. This is very rude thing that liberals do all the time. It is considered impolite to insult or make fun of a group of which you do not belong, but is okay if you can claim membership in said group. So the Redneck Comedy Tour gets a pass, because they are, (or were) rednecks. Both Portlandia and Thirty Rock are good examples of real life liberals making fun of the liberal type. Also polite. But to make fun of right wing blowhards, no matter how much they need it is the etiquette equivalent of a white person putting on blackface and acting silly.
Colbert and Bush two ass clowns.
