LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan (Reuters) - Taliban fighters seized a district headquarters in Afghanistan's Helmand province on Monday despite repeated U.S. air strikes to repel them, adding to the insurgents' recent advances in a heavily fought over region of opium farms and trade routes.
Elsewhere in Helmand, a man in Afghan uniform opened fire in the former British base of Camp Bastion, killing two U.S. service personnel, before being shot and wounded. Another man in Afghan uniform was wounded in the return fire.

I think it’s wonderful that Americans are being sent to fight and die in the protection of opium farms. /sarc
Don’t you know? We are nation building, bringing democracy to people who have been starving for it for 2000 years. Of course, we can’t trust anyone there, women are treated worse than pack animals, and the government is peopled by thieves on a grand scale. Another Bush failure, another reason why NOT to consider putting another Bush in the White House.
Would salt be cheaper? Salt their fields so that nothing will grow. Let them try to eat rocks and dirt.
