Like, Starling Marte, for instance. The dude can flat out play. He's hitting .289 on the year with 15 home runs and a slew of highlight-reel plays under his belt. But none of them were as chill as his effort on Tuesday.
With the Pirates leading, 1-0, in the third inning, Marlins shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria lined an extra-base hit into the left-field corner. Marte fielded the ball as Hechavarria rounded second and headed for third. Instead of rushing, crow-hopping and firing a bullet into the infield, Marte just kept it chill and got the out anyway:
If you're not convinced that Marte's throw was weapon-grade chill, check out this angle:
He might as well have been eating a burrito and watching "The Big Lebowski" when he threw that. There's no way that wasn't the chillest outfield assist in the history of baseball.
Holy smokes! He was looking like “Well, I guess I’ll just mozey on over to that ball and might as well throw it while I’m at it”. Talk about cool as a cucumber!
