Can you expand on what it was like to work in SA? A woman I worked with was stationed there and she said it was a horrible experience. One day her arm was showing and some muslim asswipe spit on her arm. I’m interested in what you experienced too.
I was active duty military and the first gulf war was a recent memory. I do remember that us males had to gain instant ‘cousins’ if any of the females wanted to go into town shopping, etc. Women weren’t allowed to drive nor to be unaccompanied, but it was OK to be out with a male ‘relative’. If approached by the religious police, the males would identify the female as a cousin. Then it was OK. Females had to wear head scarves, too. Very degrading for all concerned. Also, every restaurant had a ‘men only’ section.
