"American sports generally get the best cross border following."

I must stress I am NOT anti-American. I love America, and its values.

Nevertheless, NOBODY outside America could name more than 2-4 American sportsman or teams. American sports are irrelevant outside America.

Simply not true. Many can’t I’m sure. Probably even the majority. But not NOBODY. Out here in reality there sports bars specializing in American sports all over the world. And again how many people in Jakarta know anything about British teams in any sport? Even a sport they follow locally. Meanwhile some of the highest attended games in NFL history have been outside America. Up until Jerry Jones built temporary bleachers for the Super Bowl specifically to set a new record the highest attended NFL game ever was a PRE-SEASON game in Mexico city. If NOBODY outside of America knew anything about our sports you’d never get 100,000 people to an NFL game that doesn’t even count.

Even if it’s only 1%, even if it only one half of 1%, thanks to large number math that’s a lot of people.
