wet backs was the term used when I was a young un....back in the 40-50’s. It is a descriptive term. No one was offended, but the left hadn’t thunk up all the bad words yet..
Operation Wetback was a 1954 border patrol action endorsed by the Eisenhower administration designed to control our southern border. I believe it was conducted by ICE Director Joseph Swing, a retired WWII general and close ally of Ike. I also believe they got the job done with very little handwringing.
