30,000 turn out for Trump's Alabama pep rally; Attendees gathered as early as 6 A.M. CT

MOBILE, Alabama (CNN) —Donald Trump brought 30,000 supporters from deep red Alabama to a Friday night pep rally in a football stadium, the latest sign that the Republican front-runner has broad, nationwide strength.

The event was previously planned to be held at the nearby Civic Center but was moved to the 43,000-seat Ladd-Peebles Stadium -- a venue normally home to high school football games -- to accommodate the crowd. The City of Mobile confirmed late Friday that 30,000 people attended.

"It was one of the greatest events Mobile ever put on aside from Mardi Gras," said Colby Cooper, Mayor Sandy Stimpson's chief of staff.

Trump -- whose victory in national and early-state polls is no longer a surprise -- has in recent weeks taken steps to quickly professionalize his political operation.

Brent Fritz and Jacob Murray, 19-year-old students from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, drove in Friday morning to see Trump. They left at 4 a.m. ET and arrived around noon local time.

The first person to get in line was retired Marine Keith Quackenbush.

"This isn't about Republicans, it isn't about Democrats, this is a movement of citizens across America tired of the BS," he said.

Amanda Mancini, who said she is part of a new movement called "Women for Trump," flew in from Los Angeles. "I wanted to be part of it. I initially thought it was going to be small, band I thought Trump wouldn't be coming to me in California, so I would have to come to him."

Over an hour of often rambling remarks, the New York businessman reveled in the crowd size while he offered them his usual menu of patriotic pledges and carefree criticism of the media, his opponents and political correctness that he said his crowd similarly despised.

I watched the whole event on three different channels, FOX, znn, pmsnbc and if the stadium held 42,000 it lookd closer to 20,000 than 30,000 but it was a big crowd.

The people loved the donald and what he was saying and every pundit and politician that watched it knows that Trupmania is for real{outside of Washington}.

Clinton is too worried about emails to concentrate on the donald, but the professional hangers-on know that the demonRATs are in for a rough ride.

The economy is in the tank, the iran deal stinks to high Heaven, isis is murdering people all over the globe, ILLEGAL immigrants are raping and murdering American citizens every day, and Trump is screaming, "I will build the Trump Wall and it will be big and beautiful and it will have my name on it every 500 feet {both sides}.

You will get a good job and will love America {and your President, me} and all bad things will end, including obamacare.

I will fix everything, a chicken in every pot, a car in every garage, a new trumpophone, and most of all, NOT A SINGLE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT.

Any one that watched this event knows that the people that attended and most of the viewers were in agreement and loved to hear someone have the balls to say it and say it WITHOUT FEAR OF BEING RIDICULED.

I watched it on CSPAN. Trump PROVED that he’s going to seek out the best advice to solve problems by going to Senator Sessions when he was writing immigration policy. How did the crowd respond to Senator Sessions being there? How was the energy between the two?

Ditto, plus visit the black community and hit jobs, jobs, jobs...make the equation that black Americans are the ones paying the most for illegal immigration. Blacks joining the revolution will make pajama boys bow their heads and follow. And plan to visit Israel, express support for the Kurds, keep the A-10.

If Trump hasn’t been to Israel now is the time to go up and stand on the Golan and to go visit Masada and the Gaza border

He should make it a two-fer and visit Egypt and overlook the Suez and maybe visit the UN base in the Sinai

100% correct. Whatever the actual attendance was it could not have been handled at either of the first 2 venues chosen so the stadium was needed.

The crowd loved it...Sessions is very well thought of in this state...Donald rarely gives someone else the spotlight...but he graciously gave it to Sessions....Sessions is not a fireball anyway...he is a slow and methodical person....Trump will need him later you can bet and he’s lucky to get him...Sessions is extremely smart.

The elderly went through a lot to attend this event....My wife and i had to help a few after the event...they were not well, dehydrated and plain old tired...but they were there...Lots of young kids 13 to 16 there also...They seemed to really enjoy it... My friend’s daughter(such a sweet girl) is 13..after the rally she said “It is so nice to hear someone say nice things about our country”. That impressed me.
