Crist, Culver Contemplate Humbling Transition to the House (listen to the arrogance!)

It’s not easy to transition from governor to become one of 100 senators. But former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and former Iowa Gov. Chet Culver are contemplating something even more humbling — jumping from chief executive to become one of 435 in the House.

Earlier this month, my Roll Call colleague Kyle Trygstad sat down with some of the “recovering governors,” a 10-member caucus of former chief executives serving in the Senate, to talk about the challenges of transitioning to a legislative body.

“What brings us together as governors is an orientation toward results and a frustration with an institution that generally isn’t very good at getting results,” independent Sen. Angus King of Maine said.

Democratic Sen. Thomas R. Carper of Delaware put it this way on the Senate floor in December: “We’re sort of a support group for one another — men and women who used to be somebody and be special.”

If being a representative of the people in the national legislature is too "demaning" for these people, then why run?? For the power and influence (and perks and pensions) of course!

Whoever thinks this way should be removed from power! Arrogant oligarchs!

Charlie Crist is so absolutely worthless ... as viewed in Florida ... that he can’t even get a decent job in the private sector ...

Then again ... Congressman Charlie Crist could very well “sub” for Reggie Love for Obama’s long lonely nights in DC ...

These people were miserable failures as governors. Why would anyone expect they would do a good job as Congressmen?

I’m ashamed to admit I voted for fake ‘n bake Charlie Tuna, but he was a “conservative” during the majority of his tenure as governor. He got weak kneed toward the end, but thankfully the damage done was limited.

The saddest part of all is that both Crist and Culver actually have good chances of winning election to the House next year.

Crist’s new district will be strongly Dem and Culver will be running in a district against a first-term GOP rep who’s district includes heavily Dem Des Moines.
