Do you mean to say that in all his time growing up, he never asked about where his dad was??? I find it hard to believe that he never asked, and that nobody in his family ever said anything about his biological father.
He is lying about never asking who his father is. It’s an absurd statement meant to make him sound like a sad boy to be pityed rather than a fraud to be scorned.
