A slew of leaked data reveals the names and addresses of users of the adultery dating website, including people in top jobs.

Thousands of government and military officials are among those who appear to have been exposed by the huge Ashley Madison data dump.

Hackers dropped a gigantic 10Gb file of information about users of the adultery dating website, sparking a scramble on the web to create a searchable database of all those named.

Sky News has seen the raw data, which features the names and addresses of users - mostly in the US but many in the UK.

The majority of the email addresses used are personal Hotmail or Gmail accounts, however there are lots who have used work-linked email accounts.

There are reports that 15,000 US military and government email addresses are registered on the database, including executives in high-level positions.

There are also email addresses linked to the White House and NASA, as well as the Vatican and the United Nations.

Others have found senior professors at top universities, with one Twitter user quipping: "I wonder how many professors right now are thanking God for tenure?"

They use their work E-Mail accounts so their spouses don’t discover it on their home/personal accounts.

They have to use their real name if they are using their credit card.

I find the “hurting innocent people” as a rather hypocritical case against the releasing of names. The names are people who cheat. They are not innocent. These are people who promised fidelity but are not holding to it. The spouses have a right to know. I do not think the company should be allowed to facilitate the breaking of marriage vows. I would think it would be a public health issue if nothing else, since morality and fidelity seem to be unacceptable ideas these days.

The innocent parties are the spouses. They have a right to choose whether to be intimate with a cheater or not to be.

Ghost, thanks for all the posts. Hopefully some will find some solace. It’s sad that some folks will find out those thoughts they were having of, “Is she or he cheating on me” will be answered. I hate liars. I do hope chickens come home.
