Earthquake on Hayward fault. I'm in San Francisco. Seemed stronger than 4.2 from that distance.

I’ve read that the depth of the quake can make a big difference in what you feel.
You can sign up with USGS and get all quake notifications for the state. There, you will find the data connected with the depth of the quake.
