Gov Huckabee is an experienced mature person and he has the wisdom to deal with
the Clintons. And, beyond the Clintons, he knows Joe and Algore and all the rest of them.

2024: Cruz/ ?

Huck is a good debater, but is also a huge government spender. He only has one leg of the 3-legged stool.

This Gov. Huckabee?

Lakewood cop confronts Mike Huckabee on Clemmons commutation

A police officer from Lakewood demanded answers from possible presidential candidate and Governor Mike Huckabee in a radio appearance.

On the Michael Medved Show, Brian asked the governor about commuting the sentence of cop killer Maurice Clemmons in 2000 for crimes committed in Arkansas. Clemmons was sentenced 108-years. He went on to gun down four officers in Lakewood on Nov. 29, 2009.

“At the time of the murders, honestly you were a bit pathetic in your finger pointing to try and escape criticism for your decision,” Brian claimed. “I’d like to ask you if you’ll now admit that you were wrong and that you should not have commuted his sentence?”

Huck is a likable guy who ran an entertaining television show, but he loves illegal aliens more than Americans and has this deluded notion that he has a direct pipeline to Jesus to decide which criminals are worthy of pardons . . . and then hides when they decide to kill again. No sale.

There’s no more money to spend anyway so it doesn’t matter. He has skills in people handling that could pull the uninformed voters back from the crazy left.

If Cruz and Huckabee could be matched up , we could have 16-good-years.

Here’s the truth:

1. Huckabee offered no “pardon” to Maurice Clemmons.

For the crimes of theft and burglary, Maurice Clemmons at the age of 16 was sentenced to 108 years. In all likelihood, had the same crimes been committed by a white youth from a middle class family, he would’ve received 20 years and been out on probation in under ten. What Governor Huckabee did do was reduce the 108 years to a sentence of 47 years. Shortly thereafter—not simultaneously—Clemmons met the qualifications for parole, and the parole board allowed him to go free, but kept him on probation.

2. Huckabee was not an activist in the Clemmons parole.

Some have claimed that Huckabee sought and pressured the parole board to intercede in the Clemmons case. This is blatantly false. The truth is that the parole board requested the Governor to consider the sentence reduction, as did the presiding judge. Governor Huckabee sought the input from the Attorney General and the prosecutors in the case. Both declined to weigh in. The judge and parole board were both unanimous in the decision to grant parole.

3. Huckabee had nothing to do with Clemmons release.

Following the short period of time that Clemmons had been paroled, he violated his parole by committing another minor offense. As is the case in all probation issues, that violation brought him back to prison to serve time for his crimes. Once back in prison, the Governor ceased to play any role. His sentence was back in effect. Prosecutorial malfeasance and a judge’s lack of action caused Clemmons’ second release from the Arkansas prison system.

If Governor Huckabee’s sentence reduction allowed Clemmons any opportunity to do crime it was to violate his parole. Once violated however, Clemmons was back into the digestive track of the Arkansas justice system.

The major scandal here is why none of the supporters of the candidate who finished third in the 2004 primaries have not focused one ounce of attention on the two judges that allowed Clemmons to go free following the rape of a child, who was a female relative, some nine years after the Arkansas prosecutors dropped the ball.

Huckabee was in essence reducing a sentence for petty theft from 108 to 47 years for a black kid. White kids would’ve gotten far more preferential treatment in the courts.

Is this not his signature on the clemency documents? Did someone forge his signature?

Huck isn't running to be President....he's running because he wants the face recognition to keep his celebrity status going....he admitted he would have a difficult time adjusting to a change in the lifestyle he's now accustomed to after his celebrity time on TV brought him the dollars he now enjoys.

Mike Huckabee:

We must end sanctuary cities. The horrible policies that have created sanctuary cities are a symptom of President Obama’s broader policy decision to ignore existing laws and issue radical unconstitutional executive orders that provide amnesty to the most dangerous illegal aliens.

What most people don’t realize is that existing laws provide more than enough leeway for the Executive branch to get the illegal immigration crisis under control. As your president, I’ll use my pen and my phone to follow the Constitution by:

1. Ending Obama’s Catch and Release policy. This would increase arrests, detentions and deportations of illegal aliens, particularly those who have joined gangs and committed serious crimes against Americans.

2. Using all powers of the presidency to deny federal funding to sanctuary cities and work with Congress to do the same.

3. Designating Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

4. Securing the border in the first year of my term.

5. Reversing President Obama’s unconstitutional executive amnesty.

6. Making sure that left-wing activists in the immigration courts no longer undercut enforcement of immigration laws.

Nice words but inconsistent with his years as governor when Tyson and Purdue employed thousands of illegal aliens (many with TB) at chicken processing plants across the state.

Locals lined up to apply for the vacancies when a crackdown finally came.

Did he recently have an election year change of heart? Or an ephinany?
