Trump: "We Need A Strong Temperament In This Country"
RealClearPolitics ^ | 8/12/2015 | Staff

Posted on 08/13/2015 8:03:08 AM PDT by GilGil

In an interview with nationally-syndicated radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt on Wednesday, Republican candidate for president Donald Trump addressed criticism of his temperament made by the host, the truth about his phone call with Bill Clinton, and the U.S. being the "policemen of the world."

What is most noteworthy is the incredible change in attitude Hewitt had towards Trump. Hewitt was very much anti Trump and probably still is but now he is much more balanced. All of the sudden in this interview he is so respectful and polite to Trump. I could not believe it. He went as far as saying that Trump is welcome any time and that he will always be treated with the utmost of respect especially in the upcoming debate Hewitt will be doing with CNN.I guess Hewitt does not want to be gutted by Trump the way Megyn was. No other candidate has received this kind of deference. As Greta said yesterday if you go up against Trump he will nuke you and wipe you off the face of the map. That is the kind of leader we need.

You don’t know any of that. You have no crystal ball. If you were that good you would be president. No one knows the future. Ask Hillary!

Very interesting.

Who wants a sissy man at the helm when you’re under attack!

I dont know that eventually ANY politician will do something to anger his base?

I know that about as much as I know the sun will rise tomorrow!

It’s not a matter of IF, it’s a matter of WHEN.

re: Trump angering his base

Trump's appeal now goes far beyond the issues. People are sick of hypocrisy from pols. Have you noticed what's happened around you in real life? People are being much more willing to speak out, and tolerate the views of others. I think we're getting some of our American spirit back.

We've been "mad as hell" for a real long time. We now might be at the "not going to take it anymore" stage.

I have been thinking about Trump a lot recently and here is what I have concluded.

We are witnessing a power struggle between two factions of RINO’s over control of the Republican party (lets call them the McCain faction and the Trump faction). And conservatives are aiding the Trump faction because they hate the McCain faction so much. But they dont seem to realize that the two are basically the same, the only difference is WHO will be in charge when all the dust clears.

But no mater which faction wins, conservatives will lose.

Just wait and see.

I am going to start taking down the names of all the Trump apologists, so I can send out a big TOLD YOU SO message when he eventually turns on us (and he will).

If the establishment Repubs are rinos we already know about them.

Trump is an unknown quantity so there is not harm in going with Trump.

We already know that all the other candidates will screw us after elected. And if you are that good at seeing the future you should be running the show instead of armchair quarterbacking!

That’s like a Cuban saying...

We already know that Batista is a dictator so what’s the harm in going with Castro?

You may be right. Unfortunately, we live in times where truth and justice are in short supply. We live in times where lies are elevated, greed trumps all other considerations, and every man thinks only of himself.

There is one huge huge positive or as Trump would say ,”yooooge.”

We have the internet and we are more informed than ever before. Were it not for the internet we would be toast. The internet is an amazing equalizing influence and I think this easy access to information gives us a fighting chance and a very good one.

“They [Chinese] are running live fire drills in the South China Sea today near the disputed island that John Kerry asked them to stay away from last week. That’s a show of disrespect. What would Donald Trump do?”

Did you notice, Trump refused to say what he would do, used broad terms? The reason for that is there are people like you ready to pounce and start calling him a loose cannon, gunslinger, war monger, get us all killed.

Trump has one bias I have noticed. He is very reluctant to say what he would do on anything because he does not want to tip his hand. Makes sense to me.

“...so I can send out a big TOLD YOU SO message when he eventually turns on us (and he will).”

That is terrifying. By the way, can you submit ONE name among the many already elected “conservatives” who has not turned on conservatives?

Boy is that a good point. We gave them the House and they turned on us. We gave them the senate and they turned on us. If we give the Rinos the presidency the odds are they will turn on us, but oh! wait! Trump is the bad guy.

The point is that we shouldn't put blinders on and give our undying support to someone just because they are attacking those we dislike without determining if they might be the same or worse.

I GET that we all hate the RINO’s that are currently in charge of the GOP.

I GET that we desperately want someone to stand up and basically kick their butts.

I GET that we desperately want someone to also stand up and kick the butts of the media too!

And I also GET that we conservatives are SICK AND TIRED of being muzzled by political correctness.

BUT, I and not willing to support someone simply because they do the above. In the end, I have to know they will govern differently if empowered than those we currently despise.

And THAT is where I part ways with the Trump apologists.

Where do you get that Trump supporters are apologists?

The primary process is grueling and if Trump makes it all the way to the end in 9 months and gets the nomination he has my vote.

You have to let it play out and see what happens. This is a grueling process and all the information will come out.
