Hundreds of families have fled their homes amid fears a cocktail of deadly chemicals had been spewed into the air after two explosions rocked the Chinese port city of Tianjin.

At least 50 people have died after the blasts erupted at a warehouse for hazardous materials, leaving an apocalyptic landscape of incinerated cars, crumpled shipping containers and burnt-out buildings.

Hundreds of people were also injured in the explosions which unleashed fireballs that lit up the night sky, shattering window miles away and raining debris across the city.

Twelve of the dead were from teams of more than 1,000 firefighters sent to fight the ensuing blaze which broke out in the city of Tianjin, around 90 miles from Beijing, at around 11.30pm local time last night.

The blasts detonated with such force they registered on the Richter scale and were visible from space, sending terrified residents running from their homes fearing there had been earthquake.

Anyone who believes only 50 people were killed is very gullible.

THe top photo at the link shows numerous apartment buildings on the other side of that burned out lot of cars. Think about that for a minute. They are building masses of apartments right next to toxic chemical storage facilities. Even without the explosion it would be deadly.

I’d be surprised if the real death toll wasnt over 5000.

Right, with rows of 30 story apartment buildings on the other side.

I remember on 9/11 right afterwards one of the News Channels put up on their crawler “2 Confimed Dead”....

As if that was going to be the whole death count.

50? That number is insultingly low. An explosion that can be seen from space and only 50 died? Give me a friggin' break! Chicoms controlling their press again as per usual.

Tianjin, Tijuana, it all smells the same to me.

Like poop and carcinogens.

With China, you’ll never know.

Hardly anyone has heard of the 1976 Tangshan Earthquake, yet it may very well be the worst natural disaster in history, with estimate of over a half million deaths.
