New Poll: Boehner Under Water With GOP Voters

Rank-and-file GOP House members are now confronted with an important question: do they want to head into a presidential election with a leader who is unpopular with their own voters and hated by Independents?

Gallup released a poll today showing that just 23% of Americans view Speaker John Boehner favorably. A clear majority have an unfavorable view of him.

What is more revealing is that Boehner is under water in terms of approval with his own party.

Just 37% of Republicans have a favorable view of the Speaker, while 42% view him unfavorably. His numbers are atrocious among Independents – 17%-57%. Gallup notes that McConnell is also unusually unpopular with his own party. His only saving grace is that so many people have never heard of him. However, as witnessed by the spontaneous applause at the GOP debate when Sen. Ted Cruz called him a liar, the more Republicans know about him the more they dislike him.

And there's a "vacate the chair" resolution already filed in the House.

Let that sword of Damocles and his unpopularity hang over his head the next time he tries to pull one of his schemes. The republican caucus may go along less and less.

For those of us who were paying attention, Boehner and McConnell were a disaster waiting to happen.

Boehner has been great for Barry. Can anyone tell that there is a GOP majority in congress?

Of course, why blame him when the so called conservative tea party friendly reps voted to make him speaker again, even after his history of fail. They ignored their constituents and voted for him.

He in turn teamed up with Pelosi and the democrats. So the conservative reps can go home and point out specific stands on issues, however, those are meaningless because Boehner leadership is teamed up with Pelosi and the dems.

So we have business as usual.

This should not come as a shock to Boner. In fact, he should have been expecting it...if he’d been sober, that is.

He has spent his entire tenure as Speaker, sucking up to Obunga, betraying and lying to his constituents and siding with the enemies of America as it was Founded.

Hey John! You could have been celebrated as a great Speaker, who fought for the interests of his constituents, including the innocent little unborn ones. What a waste and a shame!

“For those of us who were paying attention, Boehner and McConnell were a disaster waiting to happen.”

Yeah, for sure. Classic example of staying too long. Happens over and over, just most visible in politics and sports.

If Boehner and McConnell are hated so bad, why in hell did those who are our supposed representatives pup them in those two positions?

Boehner told them they needed to prioritize party unity.

Or as I explained to my sellout rep, Boehner told them that loyalty to himself and to the party outweighed representing the constituents who had put them in office, and to whom the reps were promptly instructed to give the middle finger.

I can only hope Buddy Carter and the rest of his ilk are roundly defeated in ‘16.

IMO they have something on him that would wipe him out. He is utterly submissive to them and hates it. They busted him hard on something vile.

Conservatives (such as myself) are in a foul mood after investing our time, talent, and treasure in the 2010, 2012, and 2014 elections, only to see Republican “leaders” roll-over for everything Obama wants. Hell, Boner and McTurtle ran up the white flag even before all of the votes were counted this last time.

Many voters that I have spoken to are dispirited/disgusted to the point where they have gone Independent, or are seriously considering sitting out 2016—I can’t say that I blame them much.

The GOP-e has pretty much destroyed the Republican Party.
