On Monday night, Fox News host Megyn Kelly doubled down in defense of her questions during Thursday night’s inaugural Republican presidential debate. She explained: You may have heard that there was a dustup between yours truly and presidential contender Donald Trump. Mr. Trump was upset with a question I asked him at the debate last week about his electability and specifically comments he had made in the past about women.

America is upset that 37% of the “debate”
was the moderators.

,,,,,, I’ll never look a Fox the same way again ,,,,,, the bloom is off the rose . They have joined the (MSM) Mean Streak Media and now all news is co-opted by the liberal establishment .

I have no problem with an interviewer asking tough questions and trying to put their interview subjects on the spot (as long as it is fairly equal among the interview subjects). I always perceived Megyn Kelly as one who would do that.

I have a big problem with a debate moderator behaving like that.

Missy PC Kelly should be restricted to interviews with Howard Stern - they are much more compatible.

If her questions and demeanor (and those of Bret Baier) were displays of "Good Journalism", then why was it necessary for Roger Ailes to call Trump?

When she said “I’m not going to apologize for good journalism” then she lost me...

I did not like the question, but OK you can argue that it was going to be brought up some time...

But its certainly not ‘good journalism’

While the use of ‘gotcha” questions is an old trick designed to elicit awkward responses a good politician should be ready with a humorous response.
By responding with humor the respondent diminishes the question and the questioner.

Because the base of Fox watchers are conservatives. Ailes was starting to see his base turn off Fox and walk away. PC is just fine tell it starts to cost you money.

I wonder what the network numbers look like after the debate. Is there a place to watch them? I’m not a big “boycott” person, but we haven’t even looked at Fox since that night. Not out of retaliation, but for the same reason we don’t watch Al Sharpton’s MSNBC. There is no interest in doing so.

Megyn’s head has gotten way to big for her body. I suggest she look for employment elsewhere.

I now watch OAN (One America News) or Newsmax TV. Done with Fox.

Inquisiton/interruption from fast-talking Machinegun Kelly. The Marxist “war on women” meme had to be planted in the worst possible way. Pre-meditated ambush from a bush-league hack, flanked by smiling scumbags. FOX needs to clean up the mess.

I can’t find it here in Hilton Head. Still trying to get to it...so far no luck. (OAN)

It’s all about her. In her own way she has as big an ego as does Trump.

All Megan Kelly is, is a low classed, overly paid woman with a big mouth that thinks she's important...

No woman with the morals of a ‘lady’ would pose for pictures I have seen on here of her...

She has fooled ‘men’ that run the company she gets paid by to see that she has something to offer, and has demanded a certain pay grade for that service...

She thinks because of the two above remarks that the company she's selling herself about, that she is important, there are many people in the same business that are important, a lot classier, and are real ‘ladies’ and don't have to lower their standards to the mantra of ‘you can find them a dime a dozen on any street corner of any city you visit’.....

Could not agree more, which gets back to the title of the post - “The Arrogance of Power” - power perceived in this case. Kelly clearly saw herself as a journalist above criticism and all but untouchable and still does.

Her behavior was that of a person who just dislikes Trump and all he stands for and she set out to “get him”. The fact that the question about the “War on Women” passed muster at Fox tells me that Fox was hoping to fulfill its own prophecy of a “Donald Trump show” at the debate. In the final analysis, Fox got its 24 million viewers, but its reputation and future market share will suffer as a result.

For the record, I haven’t watched Fox for months. The network’s reliance on Karl Rove as a supposed expert and tacit endorsement of Jeb Bush was all I needed to tune out.

“I have no problem with an interviewer asking tough questions and trying to put their interview subjects on the spot (as long as it is fairly equal among the interview subjects). I always perceived Megyn Kelly as one who would do that.”.....

Like millions of other views, watched, saw and heard the “moderators” zeroing in on Trump with loaded questions the likes of which they never asked of the other candidates. Trump was set up and the moderators are to blame for the outcome. I am extremely disappointed with all three of them, particularly Kelly. You poke Trump in the eye and he is going to come back at you with vengeance.

For sure.

Someone needs to warn her that “pride comes before a fall...”, e.g., Dan Rather, Brian Williams, etc.

She has gotten arrogant indeed, and has now become offensive to normal people.......it was a fair question in an interview - but not in a national debate as a moderator.

She may be smart - but in this, and other ways - she’s just another dumb blonde........

This is what the Fox moderators stole from the candidates and the viewers on Thursday night. They usurped the role of rebuttal and made the candidates individually argue their positions with themselves instead of the other candidates. And then knowing this was going to be the format, they staged meaningless personal questions that had no viable rebuttal opportunities from the other candidates.

What candidate is going to interject in the middle of a crude mysogeny question? What candidate is going to rebut an "any word from God" question? What candidate is going to jump into Megyn Kelly's question to Jeb Bush that "your brother's war was a mistake" or the Bush dynasty question?

There were a half-dozen questions where one candidate was asked to attack another candidate.

With questions like that, how can we truly see the positions of each candidate? When the questions are lowball and undeserving of the stature of Governors, Senators, and business leaders, then why should we take seriously the fallout from such a farce.
