Of recent late-night comedy shows to go off the air, the one with the steepest decline in its final year was Jon Stewart’s. In his concluding performance, Stewart had 3.5 million viewers, and in his last year he had an average of 1.5 million viewers per show.

Check out his wiki page —he was a dedicated socialist since high-school and his brother was the managing operator of a US stock exchange.

Two things that turned me off of his show:

His skewering was off the charts selective and cherry picked .... he highlighted duplicitous and d-bag behavior from the Right, ignored same behavior from the Left (not always, but usually).

His (and Bill Maher's) brainless audience clapping like trained seals was pathetic. They were desperate to be part of his audience, he was desperate to have sycophants. To my eye, it was absurd on both ends.

Don’t think so. There’s no comedy. Well, maybe for us but not for them.

With John Liebowitz (Stewart) gone, they will have to go to Doonesbury.

Fox News’ Roger Ailes Sends Off Jon Stewart: “As he faces the end of his career, he’s beginning to wonder: ‘Is this as popular as I’m ever going to get? Is this as much power as I’ll ever have? The one person I could never get rid of was Roger Ailes. I tried. I did everything I could.’ This was all a plea to his lefty friends. I think he’s disappointed that he didn’t accomplish that goal, and we, of course, supplied him with half of his comedy. It’s just a matter of disappointment.”

1.5 million people have among them some witless younger ones with money something they wanted to believe, so he did fine for a cable show.
