Trump is a crybaby, not a bully
Washington Post ^ | 8/11/15 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 08/11/2015 8:06:55 AM PDT by ghost of stonewall jackson

Trump's defenders deep in the heart of the right-wing echo chamber were incensed Trump would be asked to defend his record and egregious language. For a group that dishes it out unmercifully to every insufficiently conservative Republican and to all liberals, they sure seem squeamish when their pet candidate is on the receiving end.

Attacking Fox from the right was a sign both of Trump and his supporters' desperation and delusion. Fox is trying to "take out" Trump? On the contrary, the cable news giant has milked his candidacy for ratings and drew in a stunning 24 million viewers for the first debate. Moreover, Trump is still exempt from serious policy questions. (What is his tax reform plan? How would he balance the budget?)

It's obvious that Trump had his bubble burst in the debate, but his post-debate temper tantrum now threatens to marginalize him even among staunch conservatives. Characters such as Trump (and defenders of extreme and less adept candidates) don't like being challenged on national TV. Well, too bad. As Trump would say, voters "don't have time" for complainers. "This country is in big trouble. We don't win anymore," as Trump put it when asked about his vile comments about women.

The problem is that Trump isn't a real candidate and is not a real front-runner. He's the flavor of the month, the Don Rickles of politics, a bully and a buffoon. He brags that he made millions in Atlantic City while firing over a thousand workers and that he gave money to Hillary Clinton to get her to come to his wedding. (Why would he want her there? No other GOP contender would.) He revels in his ignorance. As such, he is getting nowhere near the White House (even by invitation).

Look, I’m not Trump’s biggest fan but this is getting ridiculous. Pointing out the obvious isn’t being a crybaby. Fox was out to get him at the debate. Everyone saw it. Millions are commenting on it. He handled it.

It would be over if the pundits would let it be over.

Where have I seen the charge of "crybaby" before?

Frankly, I’m seeing a Goebbels journalistic stratagem of repeating this lie often enough until it becomes the truth. Sick.

Leave it to Jennifer Rubin to offer such probing, thoughtful criticism.

The definitive list of every person Donald Trump has called a loser

Because middle school Twitter feuds are what we should be looking for in a President.

Trump is very thin skinned and self centered. He is like a child who always needs attention. If you do or say something he doesn’t like, he doesn’t want to play with you anymore.

His infantile response to Megyn Kelly is proof of this. It doesn’t take much to get under his skin and rattle his cage. He is a big egomaniac and narcissist. It’s all about him. Characteristics very similar to the current occupant of the White House.

Donald Trump should be held to the same set of standards as any other person seeking the job he is running for. Everything is fair game and should be on the table. That includes past statements made in public, past policy positions, and past political contributions.

DT should not be immune from scrutiny and should be thoroughly vetted just like everyone else. He is not entitled to special treatment and should be subject to more than just softball questions from the media.

Did it ever occur to you that perhaps it was a calculated response? And based on the poll results it seems to have worked.

Like Jon Lovitz says, “ACTING!”

He also is entitled to be a part of the debate process like every other candidate. It was clear for the week before they were hyperfocused on him and trying to knock him out. I do not support Trump, but the ideas that debate ‘moderators’ are supposed to get in a tit for tat back and forth with candidates is ridiculous. Look at all the ‘special’ plans they made to handle Trump if he was out of line. No special plans made if Rand Paul went off out of turn or Chris Christie. Only Trump. That tells you they came in with an agenda in the first debate, when instead the moderators needed to get each candidate as much time as possible to respond to important questions and do some back and forth so we as voters can help narrow the field. Instead we had 1/3 of the time used by moderators speaking and a bulk of the first half of the night focused on meaningless Trump BS by the moderators so guys like Cruz and Walker could not get any airtime when the viewership was at it’s peak.

Trump should have gotten back on message by Friday night, and that’s his only mistake here. Fox ran a crappy event. We all suffer.

The audacity of the media in thinking they should be picking political winners and losers is the issue, not one candidate's personality.

Donald Trump isn't destroying America. Media bias is.

Trumps supporters have taken on Trump’s cult of personality. They are like a bunch of little Trumps under a spell. It is pretty funny. I expect to see it on DU, but never expected to see it on FR.

Trump said in a CNN interview with Cuomo that he’s a whiner. It was hysterical. He says he whines and whines til he wins. I loved it.

I honestly don’t care what the polls say.

Yes I know people are attracted to superficial things.

I don’t support mass popular democracy.

I support limited government constitutional republic as established by our Founding Fathers.

You cannot have both a popular mass democracy and free market capitalism, individual liberty, and private property rights.

In a popular mass democracy, the voters will figure that they can vote for themselves “free” stuff at the expense of others.

I don’t deny for a minute that DT is riding high in the polls right now. But that doesn’t mean I have to support him.
