See my post #11. TD Jakes has never been right with the Word of God. It is not surprising that he would depart on homosexuality if he cannot even get the Godhead right.

T.D. Jakes has always had issues with homosexuality. Preaching Ruth and Naomi were lesbians and David and Jonathan were homosexuals. His sons issues not withstanding. Then there is the witness of a former associate pastor in his ministry who was destroyed after allegedly turning down Jakes advances. Jake states “sometimes too much light hurts the eyes!” after he was turned down.

Nothing but a wolf.

He has always stated that his selling of Christian books and related items are separate from his ministry to justify his business and wealth as being separate from his ministry.

here’s a link with details of Jakes background and issues.

it’s one thing to receive the ZOT here on
FR, but to be on the receiving end of G_d’s ZOT is something that ol’ T.D. Jake$ should be trembling over.

I am always very, very reluctant to openly criticize those who proclaim Christ. But my spirit has long been troubled by this guy. He just always seemed a bit “off” but I never studied him.

This is why doctrine is so important. If a person cannot get the foundational doctrines of salvation correct, like the Biblical Godhead, they will err on other things as well...

1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

1 Corinthians 15:33 Be not deceived : evil communications corrupt good manners.

“Russell D. Moore, dean of the school of theology at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., said he takes “Bishop Jakes at his word that he holds to Trinitarianism.”

“But there’s still some elephants left in the room,” Moore said. “First of all, Bishop Jakes isn’t a new convert being discipled in the basics of the Christian faith. He is a celebrity mega-church pastor. Moreover, Trinitarianism isn’t the ‘meat’ of some advanced doctrine, but the most foundational doctrine of the Christian faith. A Christian pastor affirming least-common-denominator Christian doctrine should hardly be news, much less an elephant in the room. This can only happen in an American evangelicalism that values success, novelty and celebrity more than church accountability.”

Moore added, “There still stands the issue of the prosperity gospel Bishop Jakes preaches. Joyce Meyer and Kenneth Copeland are Trinitatians but their health and wealth gospel is different from the message of Jesus and His apostles.”

Given he is shaky on the Trinity (to the point of rejecting it, IMHO), and preaches the prosperity gospel, is there any reason to expect orthodoxy on any issue?

“LGBT’s of different types and sorts have to find a place of worship that reflects what your views are and what you believe like anyone else,” he outlined.

“The church should have the right to have its own convictions and values; if you don’t like those convictions and values [and] you totally disagree with it, don’t try to change my house, move into your own … and find somebody who gets what you get about faith,” Jakes added.

So find a church or start a church to reaffirm your beliefs and sins; satan worship, adultery, pedophilia,......

He apparently didn't look up to Bonhoeffer.

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

Great point! Most of these TV preachers would not know Bonhoeffer, let alone his insights for us!

**While TD Jakes was certainly a charismatic and powerful speaker, he never renounced his Sabellianism (or Modalism), a heretical teaching that God was one Person, not three in one. TD Jakes and other “oneness” pentacostals reject the historic and fundamental view of the Trinity.**

You want historical? Read the scripture, and find Jesus Christ, or the apostles and writers of the NT, using the phrase “God the Son” or “God the Holy Spirit” (Ghost). They don’t.

God the Father is IN Christ, and Christ is IN God the Father. God the Father is NOT another image, but a Spirit, and invisible. The image of the Son is image of the invisible God. It’s HOW God displayed his attributes to mankind on THEIR level.

Everything divine flows from the Father. He has placed all authority and power in his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things. The Son INHERRITTED it all, including his name. You can’t inherit something you’ve always and forever had. The ‘separate and distinct, co-equal, co-eternal three persons trinity’ is part of the Roman system. It’s that simple.

I don’t know Jakes heart. I’d never heard of the man until maybe a ten years ago. I DO KNOW that ministers go astray; for Paul warned the Christian men that came from Ephesus (to hear him for the last time) that even from among their ranks would false teachers arise, teaching heresies, and leading followers away from the truth.

I used to try to give these TV preachers the benefit of the doubt... but it seems like most of them do very little proclaiming of Christ. It’s sad and it tarnishes the image of the ministry for all the true Christian pastors out there.
