It was my understanding that stealth and canards don’t mix.
Looks like it might have been inspired by the Rafale but with the tail cribbed from an American design.

In some ways, the MiG 1.44 design may live on in Chinas J-20 large stealth fighter, which some analysts think may even have benefited directly from the 1.44s design and development. The two aircraft do have some remarkably similar design cues and proportions. It definitely does live on in the Chinese J-20. Here's a comparison of the two planes:
