Trump is never going to really run for president.

By the way, is he trying to get on the ballot in all 50 states? Hmmm, i wonder why not?

Why run third party when when you are leading the Republican party? He’s just trying to protect himself agains’t the ongoing assassination attempt.

“If” this is the case, then why did FOX go out of it’s way to try and get a pledge from Donald not to run 3rd party?

I have a hard time seeing any GOP POTUS nominee besides Trump winning Ohio. All the others supported TPA and/or open borders/amnesty. The beltway GOP corportists have given away the critical blue collar demo before the POTUS election battle was even joined.

The Dems will roll out their standard GOP are the party of the big business stereotypes and a vanilla nominee like Walker or Bush won’t be able to stop it. We’ve seen this movie before. It has a bad ending for conservatives.

According to “sore loser” laws in the state of Ohio, any candidate who has chosen their party essentially can’t, at the last minute, run on a third-party ticket in the state.

When is the definition of a the last minute. The primaries have not even begun yet and won't until February 2016. When is the Ohio primary?

This is just one more tactic the Republican use to defeat any reasoned competition.

As Trump has said, treat him reasonably and he’ll have no reason to go third party.

If the party plays games, it should not then be able to refuse to allow someone to go third party. No state should block that either if it’s done for cause.

He should have the right to take whatever action he desires to participate in the election process, as long as it is something considered reasoned.

If he does run third party and that idiot hillberry wins we can lay the blame directly on bonehead and conehead. If they would put forward anything remotely conservative the party would not be splitting like it is.

Won’t work. The People have the right to vote for whomever they wish. Trump will have the OHIO SOS in and out of court in record time with his name on the ballot in come capacity. And people will vote for him.

I find it ludicrous that a publication a erudite as CR would give any credence to the clearly UNCONSTITUTIONAL law in Ohio, nor it's exaggerated application by the AG.

That's Kasich speaking through them by the way.

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted and his spokesman, Joshua Eck, have already decided that due to the fact Trump “voluntarily participated” in the Republican primary debate in the state of Ohio, he’s already declared himself a Republican in the eyes of Ohio law and “chosen a party for this election cycle.”

Husted is a Republican LINK

The “Establishment” is waging an all our war on Trump.

This means they know he is electable, and they are trying everything they can to stop him.

I think all it will do is make Trump more popular.

Then Trump can proceed breaking the back of the GOP through force and money from within.

I look forward to seeing Jeb waylaid on the side of that road.

Trump will win the GOP nomination despite the GOPe leadership. He won’t run third party.

But the threat of running third party will keep the GOPe from using really really dirty tactics. Instead of banning him from debates, they will just try to get the moderators to fire crap at him to try to knock him out.

I think the democrats might be getting ahead of themselves here. Trump would probably pull just as many dems as pubs.

Actually I wish Trump would run 3rd party now. Early on I thought it would elect Hillary, now I don’t even think Trump could make it to the general election. He will blow up his own campaign with his childish behavior and lack of any specifics to back up his bluster.

As to the “sore loser” laws. I am sure both major parties would probably like them. The Dems have to worry about Sanders a little bit. I can see the concept spreading to enough states to make Donald Trump like blackmail a thing of the past. I know some such laws already exist, but I am not sure if challenged whether they’d survive in court.

In this particular case I don’t think it matters.

Unfortunately Trump doesn’t need to win in any state to guarantee a Republican loss.
