"No one who lived through the Great Depression can ever look upon an unemployed person with anything by compassion.
To me, there is no greater tragedy than a breadwinner willing to work, with a job skill but unable to find a market for that job skill. Back in those dark depression days I saw my father on Christmas eve open what he thought was a Christmas greeting from his boss.
Instead, it was the blue slip telling him he not longer had a job.
The memory of him sitting there holding that slip of paper and then saying in a half whisper, 'Thats quite a Christmas present; it will stay with me as long as I live.'' Ronald Reagan

"Inflation is the cause of recession and unemployment. And were not going to have real prosperity or recovery until we stop fighting the symptoms and start fighting the disease.
Theres only one cause for inflation- government spending more than government takes in. The cure is a balanced budget. Ah, but they tell us, 80 percent of the budget is uncontrollable. Its fixed by laws passed by Congress.
Well, laws passed by Congress can be repealed by Congress. And, if Congress is unwilling to do this, then isnt it time we elect a Congress that will?"Ronald Reagan

On March 30, 1981, only 69 days into the new administration, Reagan, his press secretary James Brady, Washington police officer Thomas Delahanty, and Secret Service agent Timothy McCarthy were struck by gunfire from would-be assassin John Hinckley, Jr. outside the Washington Hilton Hotel. Although "close to death" during surgery, Reagan recovered and was released from the hospital on April 11, becoming the first serving U.S. President to survive being shot in an assassination attempt. The attempt had great influence on Reagan's popularity; polls indicated his approval rating to be around 73%.
Reagan believed that God had spared his life
so that he might go on to fulfill a greater purpose.."Wikipedia

"Donald Trumps message sings to Americans because he doesnt play politically correct brain-dead games. He calls them like he sees them. Thats refreshing to millions of Americans who believe political correctness is a public cancer that has eroded free speech and everything else good about America... Instead of being condemned and lampooned by the likes of Ari Fleischer and his ilk, Donald Trump should be given the Medal of Freedom for speaking his mind in such a bold, honest and straight-forward manner.

"It is time for us to realize that we're too great a nation to limit
ourselves to small dreams. We're not, as some would have us believe,
doomed to an inevitable decline.
I do not believe in a fate that will fall on us no matter what we do.
I do believe in a fate that will fall on us if we do nothing.
So, with all the creative energy at our command,
let us begin an era of national renewal.
Let us renew our determination, our courage, and our strength.
And let us renew our faith and our hope. We have every right to dream heroic dreams.
Those who say that we're in a time when there are no heroes,
they just don't know where to look."Ronald Reagan
