And 99.9% of that 39 billion has already gone straight into the pockets of the U.S. factory system for turning out Marxists, uh, I mean the U.S. so-called “higher” education system.

That is only half the issue here; I think many colleges are watching enrollment plummet (since many Americans realize that anyone earning over $30 or $40K will either have their job shipped overseas or a foreigner trafficked here to do it), and they have to make student loans “less scary”...

This proposal is a slap in the face of all who served in the military to earn an educational benefit from the government.

I’m trying to make sense out of the (government created?) student loan crisis.

Is this another example where the corrupt Senate helped the House to pass funding for student loans, funding which the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to tax and spend for?

And now the Senate is working with the House to pass likewise unconstitutional student relief for the predatory student loan program, presumably to win votes for Democrats from low-information college students in ‘16?

The ill-conceived 17th Amendment needs to disappear, and corrupt Senators along with it.

The loans were given out without any thought to the young adults to sign an agreement to live good in college as the Unions made a ton of money with higher cost and pay to Unions and criminals who have taken over higher education and they will go higher as Alum look at what happened to their School their money will go elsewhere.

At least the amount forgiven will in the end be subject to Federal and applicable state and city income taxes. This will come as a shock to many income based payment plan debtors.

Yup.

Was telling my wife that lets just “charge everything” against the student loan that the feds are offering for my sons college education. The Dems will probably forgive the debt in the near future. We'd be fools not to.

Only, we don't roll that way.

Interesting observation below...

With readily available supply of money available through the loan program, most students and parents are not averse to racking up tons of debt. I guess the rationale is that the student will find a good paying job and be able to pay it off... eventually. However, $100K is not trivial. Even for a doctor or an engineer.

Our goal is to be debt free and we have a plan. However, the others have raised the bar and as a result, a college education is more expensive these days. Few people are complaining about the costs which might drive costs down. Ya, know... the free market system. Guess there is the other side — supply and demand — and the fact that there are fewer jobs in manufacturing, etc. so people are looking to higher education. Either way, a college education is getting really expensive.

Once again, this administration has made me feel stupid for working and paying my bills.

That’s how they skate by on the Obamacare Death Panels.

When the millennials get testy about granny’s early demise, offer some Groupons for student loan write-off.

This is theft.
I re-paid my loans. So can they.
IF this goes through, I expect some of these poor debtors to be at my property maintaining my lawn. If they can’t get jobs (again, not my fault), they should have to work off their debt to ME (and YOU), the taxpayer whose wealth they are STEALING from..

Tthis will make clueless parents who co-signed for their kid’s loan for their 6 year bachelor degree in Womyn’s Studies pretty happy.
