So heres a question. Did the victim in this case have a round in the chamber or did he have to chamber a round? Just kinda curious.
I didn’t used to carry with a round chambered but a couple of incidents convinced me that you probably will need that 2 seconds as these things happen fast.

Victim could have used a revolver—no safety to take off and first round is always chambered.

I have never ever carried with an empty chamber. To do so is to invite disaster. Gunfights are over usually in less than 3 seconds, and an average draw and fire is 1 to 1.5 seconds. You going to throw chambering a round into that? Unless it is a piece of crap gun, it is designed to be carried with a round in the chamber.
