Nice, if we ever have the will to use it when needed.

SO much of The Untied States Military's Hardware I have little faith in.
From the F-35 to the POS LCS.
But the Virginia Class Subs are the real deal.
They are pretty Bad Ass and we have a lot of them and I do believe we would know how to use them.

Tomahawk missiles come in a variety of flavors, the exact nature of their specific load out and capabilities is classified.

The boat can have some minimal headway to keep stability and still launch. Opening to the side offers less water resistance due to a smaller cross section than if the hatch opened fore and aft.

“...are they nukes?...”

Are you asking about the sub itself? (yes)
Or are you asking about the missiles? (they can be)

MK48 torpedoesHard to believe that we are still using the MK48. Oldie but a goodie I guess? I guess not too odd as we were still using the MK16 along with the MK48 when I was in. Glad there is no more talk of the MK45. LOL

"Or are you asking about the missiles? (they can be)"
But it isn't a "boomer" - nukes aren't it's first (or second) priority.
I think the term would be "hunter-killer"?
