The California Air Resources Board, CARB, is made up of quite irrational members. It was the CARB that demanded that ten percent of all cars sold in California after 2000 must be all electric. They didn't quite understand that in order for them to be sold, someone had to buy them. GM, on their way to bankruptcy, spent over two billion dollars developing the GM EV. They couldn't even give them away. At the last minute, CARB decreed "oh, we made a mistake", and changed the percentage to zero.

I don't think any company will be spending their billions meeting this decree.

Is that anything like the California bacon trees?

Jose was always hearing from his cousin Felipe in Bakersfield about Felipe's neighbor down the road who had a bacon tree.

"Felipe," says Jose, "there ees no such thing as a bacon tree."

"Come and visit, I will show eet to you."

So Jose went to see him. They walked down the road to the neighbor's. Felipe points and says, "See, there eet ees."

Jose walks into the yard looking. Suddenly, a shot rings out and Jose drops like a rock. Felipe flings himself into the ditch. He hears Jose moaning and calls out to him,

"Jose, are you all right?"

Jose shouts, "I was right, eets not a bacon tree. Eets ..."

"What eez eet Jose?"

"Eets a ham bush."

"Ceterum censeo 0bama esse delendam."
