Jury decides if death penalty should remain option for James Holmes (Announce 2:30 ET)

Jurors have decided whether the death penalty will remain an option for Colorado movie theater shooter James Holmes.

The jury is scheduled to reveal its decision in Phase 2 of the penalty portion of the Holmes trial at 2:30 p.m. ET.

If jurors unanimously find, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the mitigating factors the defense presented do not outweigh the aggravating factors proven by the prosecution in Phase 1, the sentencing phase moves on to a final portion, Phase 3, in which Holmes will be either condemned to die or given life in prison. If jurors do not unanimously agree that mitigation outweighs aggravation, Holmes is automatically sentenced to life in prison for murdering 12 people and wounding 70 others in 2012.

At the recommendation of my kids upon a request for amusements, I was watching Game of Thrones. I liked the one where Joffrey drank wine that had been infused with the poison they called “the Strangler.” Great scene, well deserved by the character. And this one... especially if he doesn’t know which drink or dish will contain it.

Holmes is evil. His torment should start early.

I would prefer he be hung, drawn, and quartered. Another option could be to have him shot like fish in a barrel, allowing him the same courtesy he gave to his victims.
