“With Glock being the most ubiquitous pistol out there, your objection seems peripheral. “

Does Glock lead in accidental firings because it is ‘ubiquitous’ or because people are not properly trained on using it?

“That’s what this article is pushing, and, not surprisingly, some freepers want to join right in. “

Which freepers?

Do you NOT believe that a person should receive training on the use of a gun?

Gee, I really hate it when people pull hypotheticals out of their poop chutes instead of making cogent arguments.

Guess we’re even.

Why do they never ask me to go head to head? Maybe it’s the XDM.40 cal. on my strong side and the two 16 round mags on my weak side and the XDs 9mm on my left ankle. I’m your hackle berry, lets dance.

It is not a hypothetical. It has happened.

It would seem because of its ubiquity. Most notable ADs are made by cops. One could hardly argue police don't receive sufficient training.

Gee, a firearms training org publishes a study finding police training sucks.

Who’d a thought?

What would be sufficient training in your opinion?

“What would be sufficient training in your opinion?”

Definitely more than the once-a-year training a lot of them get.

“Do you suggest that folks get a DVD of YOUR methods of training, that they can watch, take notes, and then, when they can, go to a gun range and attempt to incorporate them into their knowledge base?”

Not a bad idea! I don’t have a DVD though.

Ergo, we should keep fire extinguishers out of the hands of amateurs.

Extinguishers banned as a fire safety hazard

Britain, naturally.

I’ve had a fair amount of training on a square range, but recently spent a day doing live Simunitions training in a shoot house.

I did everything wrong, shot the wrong guys, didn’t shoot the right guys, got shot, etc - but it was great, great training.

people with zero experience in anything firearms-related aren’t going to fare well...

Two world wars were won by american boys most all of whom had zero experience...
As a side note: the concept of zero experience does press the learning curve and YOU KNOW some just don’t ever get it in the analogously referenced ‘D’.

I took CHL training in Virginia and there was a man in the course that couldn't
hit the target 5-yards away, no matter what the instructor told him to do.
Small man with a huge Sig p220.45 that was to much for him.
