Quarter of cancer patients losing faith in NHS because of late diagnosis

Researchers studied data from 70,000 patients and found that out of the 60,000 people who were diagnosed through their GP, nearly 13,300 had been seen three or more times before they were referred for cancer tests.

Those who had taken the longest to diagnose were more likely to be unhappy with later aspects of their care. Nearly one in five were dissatisfied with how medical staff broke the news that they had cancer. 40 per cent were also unhappy with the communication between hospital staff and their GP.

More than one in 10 felt that information had been deliberately withheld from them during their treatment, while 32 per cent said they lacked confidence and trust in ward nurses.

“This research shows that first impressions go a long way in determining how cancer patients view their experience of cancer treatment,” said study author Dr Georgios Lyratzopoulos from UCL.

“A negative experience of diagnosis can trigger loss of confidence in their care throughout the cancer journey."

Gotta admit that the NHS is reaching their stated goals .... population reduction through inaction!

ObamaCARE/RomneyCARE was never about patient care
or reducing deaths by cancer.

It is about avoiding diagnostic tests, and
avoiding treatment, for white people who are
politically unconnected, while charging another
$8,000 per year and then taking their homes.

The EXEMPT in the Senate will continue to get
their first class Kennedy-level heath care the first
time, every time, .... as they conspired.

The NHS (coming soon to the US) has trapped people into a system that kills them through incompetence and inaction, and perhaps even by design when it comes to denying expensive treatments to certain patients, but the population is so besotted with the illusory “safety” that Socialism and Socialist medical care purport to provide, that they won’t give it up. Its like a heroin junkie who keeps shooting up, or a crack addict who keeps hitting the pipe, even though they know its killing them.

To be fair I have a cousin there. Diagnosis with GBM V. Brain cancer...worst survival rate. That was over 2 years ago...doing very well. I truly am surprised at his survival. Not cured...But not doing more chemo either. Wife and two small kids... they did an excellent job with him.

Coming soon to all of us..

Vying for the Democratic presidential nomination, Sanders has called for the universal expansion of Medicare, a social assistance program that just turned 50.

Sanders first made the announcement on Wednesday night, in a live-streamed speech to 3500 meetings of campaign volunteers across the US. He repeated the call on Thursday, the 50th anniversary of Medicare, at a campaign rally on Capitol Hill organized by National Nurses United and attended by members of many other labor unions.

“The time has come also to say that we need to expand Medicare to cover every man, woman and child as a single-payer, national healthcare program,” Sanders said.
