Still boggled that any band would call themselves “The Chickens” essentially. Guessing they had no idea that’s what a “yardbird” is.
In the UK, a ‘yardbird’ has a different meaning than the US. They decided to change their name to the Yardbirds, both an expression for hobos hanging around rail yards waiting for a train and a reference to the jazz saxophonist Charlie “Yardbird” Parker...............
