the Yardbirds — named for the Southern American slang term for "chicken"

I always thought that Yardbirds was an odd name for a rock group and that it would be a more appropriate name for a band that performed sea chanties and pirate ballads, accompanied by a concertina.

I don’t believe that Duane was literally uncredited on the album. It’s just that at the time it came out, no one thought about it enough to give him the credit he deserved. Clapton was a guitar god, and Duane was still primarily a session musician since the Allman Brothers Band had not yet broken through to the public. Everyone assumed it was Clapton making all the guitar magic.

Eric Clapner is a wonderful pianist, I agree.

Eric Clapner

She was probably thinking of The Clap, which her favorite sport, masturbation avoids.

It seems to specialize in fried chicken.

I have never heard the term "yardbird" used to mean anything other than a crewman aboard a sailing ship.

Yardbird: “A present or former convict. Derivation: Prisoners ‘on the yard’ typically don’t have a lot to do, so they spend a lot of time standing around in little groups, working out their social issues.”

Sounds like a modern definition. In the age of sail, yardbirds were the tars in the spars.

Duanne played all over the place....some times for fun, sometimes for friendship and often for just a bag of cash. He's on many, many songs that we'll never know.
