ISTANBULTurkeys renewed conflict with Kurdish militants intensified on Wednesday as the government launched a new wave of airstrikes in northern Iraq and a blast temporarily crippled a key oil pipeline in southeastern Turkey.
Turkish jets hit a half dozen targets in Iraq in the single largest strike on the Kurdish separatist group PKK since the latest campaign began.
Lawmakers met in Ankara for a special parliamentary session to discuss the deepening crisis. Some lawmakers urged the country to salvage a three-year-old peace process with the Kurdish militants, who have sought greater autonomy from the Turkish state.
The peace process is the last chance for Turkey, said Bulent Arinc, the deputy prime minister and member of Turkeys ruling Justice and Development Party, also known as the AKP.
But Wednesdays developments suggested it would be difficult for Ankara to avert a broader confrontation with the PKK, which has been branded a terrorist group by the U.S., Turkey and the European Union.
Turkish jets have carried out a series of airstrikes against the PKK since last week when they hit the Kurdish fighters based in northern Iraq for the first time since 2011. The PKK has claimed responsibility for killing several Turkish security officials.

everywhere obama goes - death and destruction and chaos follows.
According to Brian Suits at KFI
These are Commie Kurds
PKK are commie kurds. At the moment they are also part of the combat assets against ISIS. I suspect the newfound Turkish interest in helping combat the “terrorists” is simply cover for killing Kurds. Turkey has no real complaint against the ISIS folks. Turkey would like to see the caliphate bceome real and would then move to incorporate it into the new Turkish hegemony.
Turkey created ISIS.
Commie Kurds or not, if they are militant against ISIS, that’s a massive plus.
The Kurds aren’t sending messages around the world asking folks to kill Westerners.
This will go down as one of Obama’s most treacherous foreign policy moves. And that is saying a lot.
No surprise that the Turks would use aid for combating ISIS to retaliate against the Kurds. One thing to remember is this: They are BOTH Muslim. When they get tired of fighting each other, they will turn on us. Both of them. Neither one should be looked on as a friend, but as a means to get what they want. No more, no less.
This could escalate into something beyond anyone’s control The Kurds, I would think, will get support where ever they can. Will NATO be compelled to defend Turkey?
The Kurds are bravely making a stand against ISIS..and sure as sh*t, here come the Turks to rescue their ISIS allies.
no, this is not on Obama.
before the final boundaries of ISIL, Kurdistan of Iraq and Syria, Iraq and maybe Syria, the PKK must be dealt with. By thinking they are the Kurdish power, they are screwing up the works and must be taken down several or perhaps all notches.
The article mistakenly says the air attacks occurred in Iraq. The attacks occurred in territory formerly Iraq.
The Kurds are going to hit back and soon there will be a low grade civil war in Turkey.
Turkey - a NATO member.
Kurds - who are also the best ally we have in fighting ISIS
Nice foriegn policy we have...
Turkey seems to be on the wrong side.
