He hasn’t needed to spend much, so far.

By hitting on hot-button issues, he captures headlines. Headlines are free marketing. Headlines turn into commentaries in the news media.

Other wannabes wish they had that kind of exposure. That is why they are coming out so vocally against Trump — they are hoping to get some of the free media attention.

Also, tweets are free. And Trump pushes out tweets by the dozen.

3.37 million Twitter followers and rapidly rising. But he probably reaches tens of millions through re-tweets. That's how he gets his message out and bypasses the conventional media.
