Tour de France winner Chris Froome flew back to the UK on a private jet this morning - before heading straight out for a victory bacon battie. The 30-year-old rider, who clinched the historic win in Paris yesterday, said he tucked into the sandwich for the 'first time in months' as he relaxed into a few days' rest following the three-week race. He told Sky Sports News: 'It’s not only just the Tour, it’s the whole build-up to it. We spend months and months just doing every little thing right and getting every little detail right to try to get to the Tour in the best shape possible. 'It’s going to be great now just to switch off for a few days. I just had a bacon buttie this morning and it felt fantastic just to have something I haven’t had in many months.'

Watching the tour de france is fun, have get up a little early but the view of the french country side and villages with their churchs and castles is very nice.

Scottish baps can also be turned into bacon rolls, known in Scotland as bacon batties. The bap is buttered first and some people like to use unsalted butter. Then, freshly fried bacon is piled into the Scottish bap and often a brown sauce such as HP sauce is added. Some Scottish eateries feature additions to their bacon batties such as cheese, egg or spinach.

I want one!
But I would have to spend hours on my bike to work it out!

That is one of the things I enjoy about watching the Tour. The scenery is beautiful
and I’m amazed at the construction, etc. in the small towns many of the houses are
built within 3’ of the road. They remind me of boxes that are tall but not very wide.

I’ll have to try one sometime, but I don’t see how it could be better than a good pulled pork sandwich.

I read that the other day and was wondering what it was. Sounds like a Bacon sandwich. Wonder why it was off the menu for the Tour training?
