GOP hopeful Ted Cruz to hold public town hall meeting in Huntsville

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, seeking the Republican nomination for president, has scheduled a town hall meeting in Huntsville.

Cruz will visit the Rocket City on Aug. 9 and the town hall meeting will take place at the Jackson Center in Cummings Research Park at 7 p.m.

The event will be free and open to the public, according to Madison County GOP officials.

Cruz will be accompanied by U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Huntsville, who has voiced support of Cruz's candidacy.

Cruz said last week he was planning an Alabama swing on Aug. 9 that will also include stops in Hoover and Montgomery. He also has an appearance scheduled in Tuscaloosa on Aug. 25.

The Jackson Center at 600 Genome Way, Huntsville, AL 35806 is only 2 hours from my house..

I called and talked to Len Vaught who told me they want a head count because they are serving ice cream but we don’t need tickets of any kind..

So I’m going to Cruz on down there that Sunday..7pm Central time..

I just got off the phone with Tiffany and she said another reason they need a head count is to know if the Jackson Center will be large enough. It holds around 700 people and they’ve already gotten 100 or so RSVPs. They just got two more. :-)

Anyone planning to go should go to the AL.com link and then to the “click here” link to RSVP. If need be, they’ll move the event to a different, larger venue so everyone will be able to get in.

I couldn’t make the town hall meeting, as I had another commitment that took precedence. How did it go?

Very well attended. Exceeded expectations. Very engaged crowd.

Standard stump speech, but Sen Cruz was quick on his feet with substance and humor when his speech was interrupted as well as the Q&A.

His numbers will rise as he continues to go over, around, and through the MSM and GOPe hacks who have tried to marginalize him.
