That will surprise the “no amnesty” crowd. And it is amnesty, by the way. If you grant an illegal the right to stay, he’s violated the law and gotten away with it. That’s amnesty. No two ways around it.
Now if you’re for some form of amnesty, as Trump and many others are, that’s another matter entirely. But it is amnesty he’s talking, and that fact will come as a surprise to many of his most ardent followers.
And this is going to happen on a lot of other issues as well. Just wait and see.
40% of the illegal aliens come here legally and overstay their visas. Securing the border only solves part of the problem. We need a system to track and deport visa overstays.
