Christopher Ingraham at the Washington Post has another article on guns. But Ingraham explicitly ignores the FBIs definition on mass shootings, but there are reasons for these definitions. The cases he ends up with involve very few murders and are heavily biased to include gang and other criminal activity. Curbing gang violence is important, but the causes and solutions to it are dramatically different than for the vast majority of mass public shootings, where the point of the attack is to kill or wound as many people as possible in a public place.
After 2012, mass killings were defined by statute for the federal government as "three or more killed in a single incident." The definition used to be four or more killed. Ingraham's examples surely invoke not just "mass shootings," but "mass public shootings," when his piece notes: "From Columbine to Charleston, here's a look at some of the most notable U.S. mass shootings" or "Nine dead in shooting at black church in Charleston. Four marines, one sailor killed in attacks on Chattanooga military facilities. Gunman opens fire on Louisiana movie theater." Thus while Ingraham's discussion largely focuses traditional mass public shootings, Ingraham never honestly tells readers what we show below: that these "mass public shooting" cases are a very, very tiny selection of the cases that he points to. . . .

Enforce the laws on the books.
The story is the failed background check and who in the Government was responsible for the purchase authorization.
That’s who’s name should be all over the news.
The government failed therefore the government must clamp down on the citizens for failing.
Chicago has 200+ shootings alone.
Thanks for the info. When I read the WP 204 # earlier this week, I knew it was bogus, but didn’t know the date to rebut it. Now it’s clear the WP lis as it always does to support the Democrat/socialist agenda.
As to the recent theater shooting, the bad guy’s problem is due to a failure of the system to pick up on his downward spiral mental illness which included more violence. He recently told his mother he was ready to commit suicide if she wouldn’t give him money to live on. Instead of calling the cops, she gave him $5 k. Plus, the gun check system failed to deny him a year ago when he bought the gun. He had a prior invol. mental health admission order, but the judge’s office that did the order didn’t forward it to the state gun data base. He also did felony property damage last yer in an eviction, but wasn’t charged. All the signs of crazy were not picked up before he did the theater killings.
Guns should not be the issue!
The problem is: “How are we going to get all the pyschos off the streets?” In most every case it has found the perp has been using psychiatric drugs.
Right after the chart that showed 18 of 33 were non-white.
