Senate Republican leaders will use a must-pass highway bill to start another fight over the presidents health care law.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell plans to introduce an amendment to the transportation bill to fully repeal Obamacare. [ ]
The Senate is rushing to complete the highway legislation before states face a cutoff of highway and transit aid one week from now.

Stop the grandstanding, Mitch. We all know you have no intention of actually repealing it.
big fight, kick up some dust , then cave. time after time after time after time
This bill is going nowhere so everybody gets to add their “show votes” to it.
Nothing to see here. Move along. Situation normal.
The stinking, lying, treasonous GOPeeeeeee(on their voters)
will use the IRS against conservatives before
they either
1) remove their own EXEMPTIONS
or 2) remove ObamaCARE (RomneyCARE) as they promised
(but lied, as they always do; always).
What gets me about all this is how big a deal they try to make about “must act now” to save the children. Any responsible adult has the bill written and ready to go 6 months before funding expires.
Oh, but that is the gig. If they allow time to read it there will be a big furvor over how money is being wasted or pay off made.
I’ll go back to sleep.......
If they succeed...good! I have my doubts, but wish them luck. But the King will veto and they will cave as usual. Win the first battle, but then surrender. Gutless wonders!
“Senate Republicans”?
“Fight”?
Other than Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and a few others, givve me a break!2
Kabuki theater intended to provide little more than fodder for soliciting campaign donations from the base that will then go to fund candidates who intend to stab the base in the back.
As mentioned elsewhere, Mitch McConnell is an excellent example why the ill-conceived 17th Amendment should never have been ratified imo.
For starters, McConnell is ignoring that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to tax and spend for intrastate highway purposes. Such funding can arguably be regarded as stolen state revenues which should never have left the states, the states using the money to fix their own highways without the feds unconstitutional, but vote-winning help.
Also, I dont see where McConnell's proposed amendment to repeal unconstitutional Obamacare is anything but shrewd politicking on his part. More specifically, regarding repealing Obamacare, even before the last election the GOP has been playing on the ignorance of low-information patriots that probably neither the RINO-controlled House, or the likewise corrupt Senate, have the 2/3 majority votes required to override a predictable presidential veto (1.7.2) of any bill that dares to repeal Obamacare.
What am I overlooking?
The 17th Amendment needs to disappear and corrupt senators like McConnell along with it.
