That’s the problem with having an evil communist thug acting in place of a real Commander-in-Chief. The Community-Organizer-in-Chief hates our armed forces and doesn’t mind seeing them die. I would never feel threatened by decent people exercising their Second Amendment rights, so I could ignore this harmful instruction, and I hope our military recruiters feel the same.

The only good point the letter makes is that it should not be automatically assumed that the armed individuals do not represent a threat.

It is possible jihadists could take advantage of the “citizen security” movement to insinuate themselves closer to a building for purposes of launching an attack.

The simplest thing to do would be to allow all military personnel to be armed while on duty. Of course, given what happened at Fort Hood, even that is not a perfect solution, but it is the BEST solution.

the idea that a government agency at any level would accept help from a civilian. (Other that a politically connected contractor.)

I recall that Sherlock's brother, Mycroft, "held a minor position in Her Majesty's Government", as it were...

People who step up to defend our military are viewed as nut cases, while actual terrorists are ignored.
That is sad.
We really have a serious disconnect between government and civilians, a distrust that goes both ways and is deepening.
Recruiters: I can understand why you don't want an armed civilian with unknown training and motivation guarding your station but if that is a problem, arm yourself or hire a guard and dismiss the civilian with a heartfelt Thank You.
We are supposed to be on the same side but I don't get that vibe from your brass.

“This is exactly the mindset.”

I do understand the mindset. Let’s say you’re a career officer in a position to order every recruiter to carry a side arm. Or, alternatively, you could simply turn a blind eye to armed soldiers or armed civilians. However, you work for a liberal, PC administration and you know that if you do anything other than actively support their liberal fantasies you will be out of your job and possibly cashiered out of the military.

I knew two honorable men in the civilian world who were looking forward to his hard earned pension. Then, with a year or two or three to go your company demands that you do unethical and possibly illegal things, like approve charges by your people to a project they aren’t working on. You either quit, have your career ruined, or do it and take blood pressure and anti-anxiety medication. One manager quit, but he was young enough to start over as a teacher at one third of the salary. The other was too old and medicated himself into almost a catatonic state. When you have a working lifetime invested in something you tend to go along to get along.

This is coming from the civilian army higher ups and the very top generals who are no more than political appointees/hacks.

Perhaps my reading of history is askew, but I thought the Continental Army relied upon the militia to fill the lines and provide support. Granted, the militia wasn’t the best trained or excessively courageous but Wahington still counted on them to be there when the chips were down.

How far we’ve come, in the wrong direction.

The American people will support each other no matter what baraq’s people say. This murder by islam isn’t the first.
There was an Army recruiter murdered in Arkansas or Missouri a while back and there was next to no news about that. It is a jabberwocky world where civilians have to protect uniformed personnel from the rabid feral humans that our president is importing to do this very thing.

Yes, to the øbama administration and the hacks therein. They don’t trust American soldiers to carry even sidearms in protection of their lives, nor do they trust American patriots to do what they can to protect those unarmed soldiers. But they do trust Iran in its steady movement toward the development of nuclear weapons.

It’s clearer everyday: øbama and his administration are enemy islamists and their facilitators...including, it seems, the majority of so-called conservatives in Congress.

God help us all.

The founders new it would come to this, in some form, someday so they wisely provided us with a Constitutional solution.

Many of God’s “best of time” moments originate with being a grandfather. God bless you and your family. Good for you, Mr. Protector.
