Reporters love to cross-examine Republicans about social issues and their supposedly extreme positions. Of course, they never challenge Democrats on the positions that really are extremee.g., advocating the sale of aborted babies body parts. Republicans need to push back against these transparent attempts not only to make Republicans look bad, but equally important, to change the subject away from $18 trillion in debt, a collapsing foreign policy, runaway illegal immigration, and so on.
Yesterday on CNN, Carly Fiorina put on a clinic. Republican candidates, this is what you should do when a reporter tries to paint you into a corner on a social issuein this case, abortion. Get out the popcorn, and enjoy:
I have been impressed with both Carly and Cruz' ability to firmly but politely turn back these "gotcha" attempts by the press to paint them in a corner. Both are very deft in handling the media and other Republicans should take note.
I couldn’t agree more. She’s outstanding - professional, articulate, knowledgeable - and she refuses to be cornered by the press. Dream team: Cruz and Fiorina
now that would be a damned debate juggernaut......and I don’t just mean in the four televised debates....(tho I mean that too) - but that would be a powerful campaigning machine.
“... but politely...”
That may be why they don’t get the press Trump gets. Getting more in the faces of these propagandists and personally calling them out on it would get them more notice.
They have to go in these interviews with the mindset that the person across them is the enemy.
bump for later
I hope Carly makes the cut. She is vastly better then Perry, Christie, Linda, etc.
That was very impressive. Is she actually “pro life”? Always struck me as a bit squishy on the issue. As she is on many social issues.
Sadly I fear a CEO is unelectable in 2015 America.
After what they did to Romney she would be left a smoking carcass in the middle of the road. Every downsized HP employee would be in a Democrat ad crying their sob stories.
Yes! It’s frustrating to know that, as conservatives, we have the winning arguments but always lose the debates. We need candidates who can stand up, remain strong, and speak the truth in an ENGAGING and CONFIDENT way. I’ve been hoping that Fiorina makes it to the first debate- now I’m hoping they both do. Cruz isn’t scoring as well as I thought he would.
Cruz/Fiorina, pushes all the right demographic buttons, both smart, sounds like the best chance for a win to me.
Completing an MIT MBA degree then running major tech businesses requires clear, quick thinking and a sound set of principles and ideas. Such individuals are not easily fooled or manipulated by propagandists—think about it, the propagandists in the media don’t have anywhere near the level of ability or experience of a Fiorina. What Romney did wrong was choose a strategy of looking nice and being modest. That opened him up to attacks and did not compel the voters. That strategy is not being taken by Fiorina or Trump. They are being themselves—CEO’s and high-velocity business people. You are seeing a more accurate view of a CEO this election. Personally, I think this will receive greater respect from most voters than a fluffed-up and fake public image (which I fully expect to see from Hillary).
Who do you want in the President’s office—Ms. Fake Nice or a CEO from the world’s business powerhouse-The US of America?
Sorry. It’s extreme to say an embryo or a fetus is not human in the case of incest or rape
Sorry
I would be impressed if she said a babies life should not be taken for the crime of his father. I would also be impressed if she suggested adoption for the baby. Baby deserves life and a chance for happiness and love.
Cruz/Fiorina -— YES!!!
Agreed. Carly is always very impressive at handling hostile questions from the press.
Another plus is that she is NOT a pandering politician.
I am impressed by the inability of some Freepers to post a complimentary article or statement about any candidate without giving Cruz credit for saying the same thing only better.
This is an Alinsky method used by the dims very effectively. It works like this.
Question: Do you think it is ok for (Insert your favorite Dim here) to steal from the taxpayer?
Answer: I don't think anyone should steal from the taxpayer.
Note, they never mention the name of the accused when responding to the question while attempting to assign guilt to everyone.
I said long ago that if Trump and Carly get on the same debate schedule she would benefit from the debate. She basically says the same sort of things Trump does but in complete articulate sentences.
The big appeal for them is they are not politicians and they recognize that our open borders policy is destroying the Republic.
Sorry but I call them like I see them. I didn't say Cruz was better, I just said I'm impressed with both of them in how they handle the media and I'll stand by that.
Name one candidate that does not accept the exceptions rule for abortion.
While I agree that a child is a child no matter who the sperm donor, the American people do not. To rule out exceptions is a dumb move even if you don't agree with them and no viable candidate will.
