The US. All they have to do is threaten their neighbors and start a nuke program, and the rest is automagic.

That didn't work out so well for Ukrainian farmers under Stalin.

Pol Pot's solution was to kill all the farmers and replace them with college professors and office workers. That didn't work out very well either.

Oh, the State will be able to import food for themselves. The people, not so much. The people will eventually revolt when they've been reduced to eating dirt and tree bark.

They can always import food from Zimbabwe. They have surpluses now that they took land and murdered white farmer who operated those farms. Just one commie helping another commie

The farmers will only grow whzt they need for their own use. The state will send out Lazar Kaganovich and Nikita Khruschev to seize it, leaving the farmers to starve. Just like the Ukrainians.

The Soviets socialists will eliminate those Kulaks farmers and install their own.

Take note of those "No Farms, No Food TM" green bumper stickers you see on every hipster's Suburu Outback on its way to some Farmers' Market to buy kale.

Those stickers are put out by leftist open space "preservationists" ("Land... See Snatch"). Note the registered trademark symbol... yeah, really... like that. They would LOVE to have Venezuela right here in the USA. It's their wet dream.

The message by less totalitarian-minded, more Farming Rights centered groups is No Farmers, No Food. The focus on the farmer rather coveting that family's private property is what makes a HUGE difference.
