You know, this war on the rich is just plain stupid. I'm a retired professor and am not one of the rich, but increasing taxes on the rich makes no economic sense. The rich are the prime movers of this economic system and the idea of transferring income from the productive to the non-productive simply doesn't work. History is filled with the wreckage of such social experiments from New Harmony to Russia. Even China learned that private enterprise makes things happen.

Despite the extensive history, we still find idiotic politicians who think they can outperform the free market and are capable of making a billion market decisions per second. War on the Rich? Don't they realize that a rising tide lifts all boats? How many of you were hired by a poor person?

Pure stupidity.

Now you’re talking evil old Reaganomics- - never mind that it’s true.

You are correct, of course. This is thoroughly stupid economics.

However, it is shrewd politics. Amongst the low-infos out there who have no understanding of economics this sort of stuff plays really, really well. I think even more so next year, due to the rising tide of populist bloodlust out there.

Hillary is taking flack from her left flank because even this proposal is not radical enough for them.
