“Coe was an original member of the “Not Ready For Prime Time Players”, the original cast of Saturday Night Live, but he was only credited as a cast member for the first show, October 11, 1975. Coe was used in several other episodes of SNL, but was never again credited.”
Bit of a stretch regarding SNL claim but I remember him in many TV shows. RIP
He did the voiceover for Woodhouse on “Archer”.
The name sounded familiar so I looked him up, he was also on an episode of The Golden Girls..same with Alex Rocco, RIP to them both..two great actors
Why was he demoted?

Back then it was global cooling.
Remember this one from the "Academy of Better Careers" skit? This was in the very first episode.
Yes, you too can have a very exciting career as a highly sought after, highly-paid, standy-by operator!
A shame that George Coe never caught fire like Belushi, Radner and the rest.
He did one of my favorite faux commercials from SNL’s first days, mocking the ever increasing number of blades being added to razors. From double track, to triple track, and now for an even smoother shave ... quintuple track! The punch line was “Why? Because you’ll believe anything”. Who knew the joke would come true?
Talented character actor. RIP.
