California regulators on Monday proposed a first-of-its-kind, $1.5 million fine for a group of Central Valley farmers accused of illegally taking water during the drought.

It would be the first such fine against an individual or district with claims to water that are more than a century-old, known as senior water rights holders.

The action reflects the rising severity of California’s four-year drought that has prompted the state to demand cutbacks from those historically sheltered from mandatory conservation. …

I would ask folks to study this article written by a U. S. Congressman, concerning the “Man Made Drought: A Guide To California’s Water Wars” in California.

It’s important.

Californian’s, you need to read this.

Like the Roger Maris’ “historic” 61 home runs or Reagan’s historic landslide election. It sounds so awesome when AP calls it historic.

“...with claims to water that are more than a century-old, known as senior water rights holders.”

In other words it’s THEIR water and the California Government is STEALING it.

Water rights mean a lot here in Montana. My well is number 12,*** in a county the size of Delaware. Yellowstone National Park (YNP) is number one. Imagine how much the socialists would scream if the state diverted YNP’s water to the citizens if a drought was that bad...Never gonna happen.

Montana enforces it’s water laws.

So what’s the underlying plan/scheme here?Drive the farmers off the land while reducing it’s market value by making it a dust bowl? Then the libs move in and buy the land at fire sale prices and make huge profits?

So how does California propose to actually collect...by forcing the farmers to leave the state and then taking over dead farms?

No, but I did see an animal show Sunday about a Fennec Fox.

He lives in the desert and has big ol' ears.

I thought the state of Kalifornia has adopted a ban on dangerous dihydrogen monoxide.

https://www.lhup.edu/~dsimanek/dhmo.htm

Penn & Teller were able to many environazis to sign a bill banning this dangerous chemical:

Water laws are maintained until the government desires not, unfortunately. Like MT, Alberta has water rights but governments can and do put pressure on rights holders. For example, TransAlta has senior water rights on the Bow system (after the Eastern Irrigation District), so they can do whatever they want, AFA releasing water for Hydro generation. Because of the flooding in S. AB two years ago, water releases from Ghost Lake Reservoir are only completed with government approval, apparently.

While I have no great love for that (dis)organisation, I don’t appreciate that the government can overrule such rights.

Just wondering - wouldn't one of the first things to do in a water shortage would be to ban water for private swimming pools? Have they done that?

And wouldn't it be a priority to preserve water for one of the most important uses of all, the production of food?
