Davenport Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is wrapping up his first week as a presidential candidate in a three-day swing across Iowa, driving from the eastern bluffs above the Mississippi River to the western ones above the Missouri.
The GOP governor will make at least 10 stops in this all-essential early state in the presidential nomination process, which will be key to his candidacy. Without a win or at least a very strong finish in this neighboring state where he spent part of his childhood, Walker is unlikely to sustain for long the campaign that he began Monday in Waukesha.
To achieve that, Walker will be doing something he knows well in a new arena running a sort of campaign for governor, but this time in a different state. Between this week and early 2016, he'll be visiting each one of Iowa's 99 counties, crossing 10 of them off his list on this trip alone.
From Friday through Sunday, Walker will be traveling this state in a Winnebago motor home, hoping to add to a kind of everyman image that he's long cultivated and that's well-suited to another Midwestern state.
It's the second Iowa road trip of the summer for Walker, who traveled on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle last month through the state as part of a fundraiser for U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa).
Other stops for Walker on this latest trip include Cedar Rapids, Sioux City, Ames, and Council Bluffs.
Walker has led nearly every poll in Iowa for months and it's no surprise he's emphasizing the state after visits this week to other key early campaign states Nevada, South Carolina and New Hampshire. Since January, he has visited 14 Iowa counties, according to a Des Moines Register web page that tracks candidates' visits to the state.

Walker moved to Delavan when he was 10 years old, and his father became pastor at the First Baptist Church. - Don Gonyea/NPR
I was watching the Kelly File on FOX last night and was disappointed to hear Walker say that he was strongly in favor of the Patriot Act.
I like Walker a lot, but he has to be better than he was last night on that show ...seemed like he was only listing off talking points in response to every question ....instead of just being himself and answering
Since he appears to have hired a bunch of RINO handlers, don’t expect for him to be himself...
That’s what I thought too. He appeared to be a little unprepared in his response to the incident in Chattanooga. I felt like he was being overly cautious or maybe overly coached.
I’m not a fan of the Patriot Act. Bigger and more intrusive government is not the answer. I wish he would’ve emphasized better base security, the second amendment (gun free zones are ridiculous and dangerous) and an insane immigration policy that allows America hating radicals into our country.
A belated hello to all the Cruz-Trump supporters.

....Pleasant. Thats even how Walkers bitterest political foes describe him.
In the heat of the states showdown with its union four years ago, Rep. Peter Barca, the Wisconsin State Assemblys top Democrat, publicly denounced the governor at protests across the state. You know, Governor Walker, you have defiled our heritage, Barca said at one rally. You have disregarded our values.
But Walker, who declined to be interviewed for this article, never took it personally. Id give a speech in front of 50,000 protesters saying,Walkers got to go, Barca says, and youd see him the next day and youd think I just sent him a coffeecake or something.
Barca is part of a small group of leaders who meet regularly with Walker during the legislative session, but Barca said those gatherings are almost never satisfying. Generally, when you meet with him on the major issues, you dont feel like its a dialogue,he says. We get along just fine. He is sort of chitchatty. He exchanges pleasantries, makes some jokes. But you just feel like that on the big issues he is just there to tell you, Heres what I am going to do.
The roots of his immovability may lie in what he calls being a P.K.-a preachers kid....”

Your comment reminds me of Sarah Palin and how poorly she did in her interviews with Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric. Her handlers were actually working against her.
Scott Walker needs to be careful about who he (or his PAC) hires.
He is pleasant.
Walker’s accomplishments are unparalleled. His temperment is exceptional. I would even go as far as to say that his temperment may be comparable to that of our greatest Presidents (Washington, Lincoln, Coolidge and Reagan).
I hope he wins the nomination but being too pleasant can be a detriment. Tim Pawlenty was pleasant. If Walker gets the nomination, I don’t think he’ll have a problem winning the general election.
Did anybody catch Walker’s presser this morning where he called for the military on all bases and facilities to be armed up?
Oh wait that was Trump. :-)
Snort!:)
For me, the final decision might hinge on a Trump/Cruz alliance, and the nature of said alliance.
