MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — NASA scientists and planet lovers everywhere are cheering the Pluto space probe, which is now sending images of the dwarf planet back to Earth.

The cost of the 10-year voyage is raising eyebrows, but not for the reasons you might think.

(snip)

The edge-of-the-solar-system breakthrough cost $720 million. That’s less than the cost of the $1 billion Vikings stadium. And less than half the $1.7 billion price tag of the Southwest Rail Project.

The taxpayers of Minnesota could have nearly paid for the Pluto trip themselves for the $500 million they're forced to fork over for "Wilfare".

And it could have flown round trip Pluto and back two and a quarter times since the Vikings were last in the Super bowl.

Next time we should make it worth it.

How much to put both Obama and Biden in there and send them out there?

No amount of money is too much to keep the peasants quiet with bread and circuses.

The Vikings stadium is actually costing a lot less than the new VA hospital being built in Denver, Colorado.

But look at what it achieved. Welfare folks got opportunities too. They got high and spaced out. They were able to go on trips they otherwise couldn't pay for. Some of them are exploring heavenly bodies and spreading their tales on twitter. It brings some meaning to otherwise boring meaningless existence. /s

VA hospital in Denver? 1.73 billion. More than 3 times original projected cost.

The looks I get from sports wackos when I say anything along those lines runs the gamut.

Fine to watch and be a fanan. Many I know, sports rules their lives.

Information gained from the probe will be more valuable than a stadium.

Did you know: The Pentagon, when it was built, cost $83 million and took 16 months to build.

The VA hospital in Denver has tripled in original cost to $1.73 billion, with a $180 million parking lot. Has been being built for several years with about three more years projected.

I’m betting the welfare spending of a single large city like LA could probably fund the mission many times over.
