Liberal dredges up old racist fears

In the Washington Post's liberal blog The Plum Line, Paul Waldman last week recycled one of the enduring lies of liberal politics: that "the Willie Horton issue," as Waldman calls it, was a successful appeal by the 1988 Bush for president campaign to American voters' racism. That's a lie and deserves to be exposed as such.

As if Horton were white, white voters would be ecstatic about a violent white criminal let loose on society. Liberals are mentally ill.

And, if I remember correctly, Willie Horton was first raised in the primaries by the Al Gore campaign. That was the year that Fred Phelps was Gore’s Kansas state campaign chair.
