Obama claims it is not a treaty. Others say it is. I’m not a scholar, so I don’t know, but I don’t believe anything Obama says.
“I dont believe anything Obama says.”
I’m with you on that one.
Thanks! I skimmed through it and it seems that the president has been able to increase his power over the years at the expense of congressional oversight.
I didn’t see anything about the Senate being able to stop the president for making these “deals”. This is not a good thing.
As explained in the Federalist papers, and as is the practical reality in all democratic countries, the legislature has primacy.
House and the Senate can take back their original powers and even overrule the President and Supreme Court and federal courts anytime they want.
What’s lacking is willingness and leadership, not ability. What’s really lacking is an electorate demanding accountability from legislators.
You are correct. People blame the politicians, but the voters are the ones at fault. As long as we have Americans who care more about “free stuff” than they do about what is right, the future looks pretty grim.
“You can’t cheat an honest electorate.”
Indeed. And you can’t have a good government, no matter what form, without a moral people.
