Gov. Scott Walker kicked off his presidential announcement tour Tuesday with a stop in Las Vegas, where he decried the new nuclear deal with Iranand quickly drew fire for comments he made criticizing the minimum wage and a Boy Scout decision to lift a policy banning gay troop leaders.....
"I was an Eagle Scout,my kids have been involved,Tonette (Walker) was a den mother...I have had a lifelong commitment to the Scouts and support the previous membership policy because it protected children and advanced Scout values."...
Critics quickly accused Walker of supporting homophobic policies and implying that gay people are pedophiles.
"Maybe Gov. Walker should take a history lesson from his idol,President Reagan, and not support blatantly homophobic policies...The idea that LGBT individuals represent a threat to our children is extremely backwards, and coming from a sitting governor is quite disturbing."
But Walker's campaign spokeswoman...said the previous policy protected Scouts from the "culture wars."
"The previous policy protected Scouts from the rancorous political debate over policy issues and culture wars,"[Ashley]Strong said. "Scouts should not be used as a political football on issues that can often be heated and divisive."
Walker also appeared to target the national minimum wage on Monday night, calling it one of the "really lame ideas" being backed by Democrats.
....Walker said the "path to a Republican win in the presidency comes right through the Midwest."The Republican governor added that he's been able to energize the base and energize independents, saying they "want someone to stand up for the American worker."
"The left claims that they're for American workers and they've just got really lame ideasthings like the minimum wage,"Walker said. "Instead of focusing on that, we need to talk about how we get people the skills and the education and the qualifications that they need to take on the careers that pay far more than the minimum wage."..

Excellent start!
I am exited that he is not afraid to say what needs to be said
Scott Walker hits the ground running in Vegas. Slams Iran deal, etc.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Looks like the media disagrees.
Oh, my... we’ve hit a nerve and the rainbows are in a snit.
Walker doesn’t have Cruz’s finesse. He’d make an excellent VP in charge of staking union vampires through the heart, though.
Well. - The media ALWAYS disagrees with conservatives. So, what’s new?
The reporter doesn’t have to go far to find the ‘quick critic’ - it’s the reporter herself.
Good start. I worry about his relationship with social conservatives given his wife and sobs’ support of the denaturation of marriage.
At least they don’t hide or lie about their opinions.
And they’re not the candidate.
The media is working to push an impression on their readership.
As the media have raised this - I wonder what the stats are. Are gay people statistically more likely to be pedophiles?
Walker Adviser on Strategy: Much Easier To Move From Being Conservative to Moderate Later On
NEXT TIME PUT THE FULL QUOTE!
You start in Iowa and lock up conservatives, because if you dont do that, none of the rest matters, Walkers adviser reportedly told journalist Tim Alberta. Its much easier to move from being a conservative to being a middle-of-the-road moderate later on.
In Iowa, you see the beginnings of that, he added. Hes capturing that conservative wing first and foremost, and then moving from Iowa to the other states and bringing other voters into the fold.
The idea, according to the adviser, is that Walkers strategy on the national playing field will be the same as what has worked in Wisconsin: he will present himself as a blue-collar, down to earth kind of guy who didnt graduate from college, who appeals to everyone and, ultimately, unites all stripes of the Republican Party.
This isn’t a Cruz thread. If you want to salivate over Cruz, there are literally hundreds to choose from.
No thanks! I knew this guy couldn't be trusted.
“Are gay people...pedophiles?”
Maybe we should ask the Catholic Church....
Spare me your false indignation.
ALL the candidates are going to campaign for the nomination.
ALL the candidates are going to work to appeal to as many voters as possible.
ALL one has to do is look at the slobbering over Donald Trump as a conservative savior to understand how this is going to go.
Good luck with that then.
