A recreational drone temporarily halted air drops Sunday in an area of southwest San Bernardino County where firefighters were battling a brush fire, officials said.
The Mill 2 Fire broke out about 2:30 p.m. and burned 35 acres within 90 minutes near the intersection of Highway 38 and Bryant Street (map), east of Mentone and North of Yucaipa, according to the U.S. Forest Service. No injuries were immediately reported.
Homes in Yucaipa and a Southern California Edison plant in Highland were threatened, said Carol Underhill, a spokeswoman for the agency.
Four residences were evacuated on the west end of Yucaipa Ridge, an update on the multi-agency website InciWeb stated.
The fire was 10 percent contained Sunday evening and Underhill said its forward progress had slowed.

If we had a fleet of 747 water bombers that could be dispatched at a moment’s notice to go dump water on a fire the fire be over before it got out of hand.
If we had ham, we could have ham and eggs...
And if my aunt had balls,
she’d be Caitlin Jenner.
Just follow that sucker back to it’s owner.
Then make an example of the jackass.
We need those funds for illegal aliens.
Just follow that sucker back to its owner. With a cruise missile right!!?
A modified Shrike would probably work. We have some retired Growlers we coul put back in service.
Prowlers
meanwhile here in Lala Land del Norte...Marin County CA.....a Hot Tub establishment caught fire....earlier this evening.....
There are some DC-10s.
We have multiple aviation assets for fire fighting in CA. Dozens in fact.
CalFire and the USFS both operate aircraft.
We also have Air NG aircraft able to be equipped with MAFFs.
It’s not that easy.
What size? IMO, crap like this is just seed fodder for heavily regulating them... They could have kept dropping water, the majority of these things are the size and weight of something like a crow.
But those multiple aviation assets can’t compare to a the capacity of a 747-200 supertanker - 20,500 gallons of water or retardant. Just think of what one can do and what a fleet of them could do.

The next closest is the DC-10 at around 12,000 gallons.

Well...
I have a lot of respect for the guys flying those drops. They’ve potentially saved my home about three times now.
Any guy screwing with them doesn’t merit much defense.
Takes three of those to equal one 747.
All the 747’s are busy making chemtrails.
Is there a 747 that can land on a lake?
